In close collaboration with urban geography professor Brigitte Wotha, from Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences we are proud to organize the study trip exploring the topic of informality in the city and its potential for being included into inclusive formal planning. This trip should enable the students to think beyond the narrow limits of formal planning. They should learn to work out the possibilities and limits of informal planning, to evaluate the impact of space appropriation as part of the participation of the civil society in urban development and to examine their observations comparatively between Prague and Braunschweig. The project is part of the study programme for the winter semester.
Cities are places where global environmental challenges are focused, but at the same time they serve as centers for innovation. Fortunately, the care for the condition of the natural environment is becoming more and more often recognized as an important aspect of urban development, that is capable of contributing to both economic development and the growing satisfaction of residents. Good condition of the environment is one of the pillars of sustainable development, which was treated inadequately in cities for many years.
Peace Sofas is a campaign by the European Network for Nonviolence and Dialogue to inspire people to talk together. We found pairs of people with opposing opinions, cut their sofas in half, merged them together, and sat them down to talk. In our hyper-polarized society, talking to people with different viewpoints is one of the most important things an individual can do.
Join the 9th year of the Festival of Arab Culture – ARABFEST! The program of this year will revolve around lives of women in cities. In interdisciplinary panels you will hear specialists who will be discussing women in indoor or outdoor public spaces, not only in Arabic cities. The main program will be held in the week of 4 - 8 April in Pilsen.
The goal of the cross-disciplinary conference is to highlight and research the phenomenon of violence in architecture and urban space. Besides, the conference aims at stimulating an active interaction between scientists, activists, students, lecturers, and people professionally engaged in architecture and urban planning: the attendees will exchange experience in resolving the issues of spatial discrimination and ensuring the rights that different social groups have for the urban space. Additionally, the conference will serve as a platform for building the culture of sisterhood in the hands-on female architects’ community, and search for the mechanisms of reacting against the urban violence by means of urban planning, which should foster democracy, diversity, and equality.
Women and human rights are a central concern for us as women and gender equality departments in the FemCities network. What are the discussions about women and women's rights in (European) cities in connection with refugees? Who is included, who is excluded and who is silent? What are the positions of gender experts and why? What are difficult topics that we as feminists come across, what are our blind spots?
We cordially invite you to the first networking and experience-sharing event organized by prominent Czech and international organizations working and rising awareness on the topics of gender equality, architecture and urban planning. How to Design a Fair-Shared City? What is gender mainstreaming? How can we use its principles to enhance quality of architecture and urban planning, thus increase the quality of life in our cities?
This event is intended for architects, urban planners, politicians, anthropologists and a wider public with an interest in urban design. We hope it will spark a deeper understanding of gender aspects in design and architecture in our everyday lives.

In the framework of III International Festival of Queer Culture DOTYK, Social and Sports Projects Together with the Minsk Urban Platform are inviting you to attend the two-day workshop "Represent Sport in a Different Way: Gender-Sensitive Playgrounds"
At the workshop we will try to actualize the problem of unavailability of playgrounds for women, girls and elders, consider the experience from the other countries in the design of parks and playgrounds, learn and develop criteria for gender-sensitive redesign of the case site: Zakharova, 58, gymnasium №7 Stadium in Minsk. The workshop is intended for: students and young practitioners architects, teachers, aktivists, those who like to play sports, representatives of sport companies.
In cooperation with Heinrich Boll Stiftung Prague, NKC, Prague Institute of Planning and Forum 50% we will select 15-17 influential architects, urban planners, politicians from Prague, Bratislava, Budapest who will participate on 3-day study trip to Vienna where they will deepen and widen understanding of gender mainstreaming on realized projects of different types of public spaces, housing and mobility.
The program of Green Academy in Batumi, Georgia organized by Heinrich Boll Stiftung South Caucasus focus on the following big thematic frameworks: Green Economy and Politics; Gender and Economy; Urbanism and Gender. WPS Prague will join in preparation of the program as well as participants in the section Gender and Urban Planning.
Public space should be a fair space for everyone. But are we all equal when it comes to the use of public space? How different are the needs among men, women and other groups in public space? And how we can create public space that is fair to everyone?

The international conference Gender issues in art, architecture and urban planning. Modernist Females took place in Zabolotny State Scientific Library of Architecture and Construction 11-12 March in Kyiv, Ukraine. The conference was attended by Ukrainian, Russian and European experts, researchers in art, architecture and urban planning. To represent WPS Prague we presented our research Successful Woman Architect, Urban planner.

Early March we attended the international workshop focused on equality of women in public spaces in Tbilisi Georgia. We met with experts on gender equality, activists, academics, lawyers from Poland, Armenia, Turkey, Ukraine, Russia, Belarus and Georgia. And we presented our research on Successful Women Architects.
